Jesus Canceled by Progressive Christians for Owning Slaves

Progressive Christians have been on a roll canceling all of the American Puritans because they were slaveowners. “I just don’t see how white evangelicals can hold men like Jonathan Edwards up in such high regard,” Beth Allison Moore told Nod Daily. “These men were slaveowners, obviously unrepentant white supremacists.”

Other men who have been canceled by progressive Christianity include the great American preacher, George Whitefield as well as James P. Boyce, one of the founders of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. “Owning slaves is ipso facto sinful,” Tim Chandler said, “there is just no way around it. If someone ever owned slaves, regardless of the reason, that clearly demonstrates a heart that has not been regenerated and that person should, under no circumstances, be considered a Christian.”

Quite a few progressive Christians are now acknowledging that there were many slaveowners in the Bible including Abraham in the Old Testament and Philemon in the New Testament. Chandler argued that the Scriptures are clearly wrong on this issue as the Apostle Paul treated Philemon as a brother in Christ when clearly, he owned slaves proving that he wasn’t.

However, the latest development in progressive Christianity is the canceling of Jesus Himself. The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 6:5-6, “Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. “

“If that doesn’t make Jesus the ultimate white supremacist,” Moore said, “then nothing does.”
